The 10 Step Process to Inventing Anything

TL;DW (even though you absolutely should watch this amazing presentation)

  1. You should have a desire to make meaning, not make money.

    • determine how you can make meaning—how you can change the world—NOT how you can make money.

  2. After you decide the meaning you make, make a mantra—2 to 3 words—on why your meaning exists.

  3. Jump to the next curve. Always try to find something better.

  4. A great product is always these things:

    • Deep - has functionality

    • Intelligent - “When you look at it, you say, ‘Aha! Somebody understood my pain! Somebody understood my problem!’”

    • Complete - Has totality - Has an ecosystem (think Apple)

    • Empowering - It makes you able to do things you couldn’t have done before

    • Elegant - it has to look good, man…

  5. Don’t worry. Be crappy - get your MVP out ASAP. It’s not worth it to wait. So really, don’t worry. Be crappy.

  6. Let 100 flowers blossom — listen to feedback

  7. Polarize people. Make a product that people either love to death or hate to death. Great products polarize people.

  8. Churn, Baby, Churn — ALWAYS improve your product. Keep churning out new products. Change it, change it, change it, and change it some more.

  9. Be valuable AND unique. This is so much easier said than done.

  10. Perfect your pitch. Pretty self-explanatory.

I want you to think about ChatGPT. Does it have some of the things mentioned above? I think it does. I hope this inspires you to be innovative and make whatever your imagination can think of.

Please watch the full tedtalk I linked above. It is truly brilliant.
